Understanding the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR)

Nowadays, with the emergence of various groundbreaking technologies, it’s safe to say we are witnessing an extraordinary leap in development and innovation. Before modern communication tools, the idea of a global village felt like science fiction. Today, it’s our reality. The term "4IR" is still debated among researchers and experts. However, its origins are often traced to the 2011 Hanover Fair in Germany, where the focus on computerization, digitization, and automation in manufacturing brought the concept into the spotlight.

While the exact definition of 4IR continues to evolve, experts generally describe it as:

The integration of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) involves networks of software, smart devices, automated machinery, sensors, and communication technologies. Some interpretations define 4IR as Industry 4.0, a trend emphasizing automation and digitalization

Additionally, 4IR is closely linked to the 4.0 revolution in Education, Information literacy, Digital Literacies, Media Literacy, and Cities, all of which have been significantly impacted by 4IR, revolutionizing their practices.
